SUMMARY
Clean and maintain the grounds of 40 acres split between two campuses and assist maintenance with repairs and improvements as needed. Groundskeeper will conform to institutional policies and procedures and adhere to diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean common areas.
Mow lawns.
Wipe tables
Trim hedges, trees, and groundcover.
Maintain plants, fruit trees, and grass (prune, fertilize, etc).
Sweep/blow walkways, parking lots, and roads.
Weed all areas.
Plant vegetation, flowers, etc.
Maintain dog waste stations.
Maintain irrigation reservoirs.
Assist staff with office moves and moving large items.
Assist with facilities projects as assigned.
Purchase supplies as needed.
Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems, tools, and machinery.
Carry out policies established by others.
Work within existing rules and procedures.
Execute all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to interface with a number of different departments. Must be self-motivated with prioritization and time-management skills. Ability to work both independently without supervision, and receptive to direction and feedback.
Ideal candidate will be self-motivated and eager to contribute to the team. A keen eye for detail and creativity in landscaping are a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma preferred.
Maintenance/Construction/Landscaping experience (irrigation experience preferred).
Ride-on mower, power tools, chain saw.
Positive personality.
Ability to read, write, speak, and receive instruction in English. Basic math may be required.
Creativity with landscaping design preferred.
Ability to problem-solve while following established policies, regulations, and procedures. Ability to pro-actively identify potential problems and positively resolve them while meeting deadlines.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
CA driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires standing for long periods, sitting, climbing, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl.
Job requires height and ladder work; manual and power tool usage, and ability to lift 75 lbs.
