Mail ProcessorThe Mail Processor performs a variety of duties related to the processing and delivery of US and campus mail. This includes operating high speed mailing machines using electronic scales, recharging departments for outgoing postage, picking up and delivering mail throughout the campus, handling accountable mail such as registered, certified, and express mail, preparing US Mail for "returned to sender", using variety of stickers to identify handling of packages with addressing issues, operating mail truck and other material handling equipment.Mail Processor is expected to arrive at work on time due to the scheduled nature of services offered to UCSB campus by dept.Required QualificationsTwo years of experience in the handling of campus and U.S. mail, including a working knowledge of postal regulations and postal rates.1-3 years experience and basic knowledge of major shipping carriers and the array of products offeredPreferred QualificationsHigh school diplomaKnowledge of US Postal Service product and services offering.Awareness of current postal rates; familiarity with the operation, function and purpose of computerized mailing systems and mail management software.Ability to read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand and follow generalized and specific work instructions, both oral and written.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good organizational and time management skillsSpecial Conditions of EmploymentAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Work M-F 7:30am - 4:30pm, schedule can be modified/adjusted depending on needs of Mail Services operations.Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.Satisfactory criminal history background checkMisconduct Disclosure Requirement: As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct.
