Student Learning Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

2026-08-13     Crossover for Work     Santa Barbara,CA
Description:

$120,000 annual W2 compensation, distributed weekly, with medical, dental, and vision coverage starting day onePosition based on-site at an Alpha campus in one of the following locations: Bethesda, MD; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Greenwich, CT; Malibu, CA; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach, FL; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA. Relocation assistance is available.Traditional schools set standards for students to reach. You'll prepare them to surpass what they thought possible.Students carry untapped potential that often exceeds their own belief. When difficulty arises, many adults reduce expectations. Your approach is different. You understand that confidence doesn't emerge from encouragement alone—it develops when someone achieves what they previously considered beyond reach. If you've ever prevented a student, athlete, participant, or mentee from giving up on themselves, this work aligns with your instincts.Alpha redesigned education around one core principle: AI excels at academic delivery, while exceptional people excel at transformation. Students advance through foundational academics via adaptive, AI-driven learning platforms. Your role centers on cultivating what technology cannot—discipline, resilience, communication, accountability, focus, and the conviction that challenging pursuits carry inherent value. Your days won't involve lesson delivery or paper grading. Instead, you'll guide students through obstacles, acknowledge meaningful growth, and enable them to accomplish objectives once considered unattainable.Approximately 60% of your time is dedicated to facilitating dynamic, one-hour life skills sessions covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, leadership, and feedback exchange. Roughly 30% involves individual or small-group coaching, leveraging Coachbot analytics to determine which students require encouragement, accountability, or alternative strategies. The final 10% includes data review, coaching refinement, and preparation to strengthen student outcomes in the week ahead. You'll begin with established workshop structures, then enhance and expand them as you identify more effective methods for inspiring students.Performance is measured objectively. A minimum of 90% of your students should reliably reach their weekly academic targets, exhibit mastery of Alpha's life skills via Test2Pass evaluations, and rate their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Maintain this benchmark consistently and you'll advance along a defined trajectory to Lead Guide, where you'll mentor other Guides, and eventually Campus Lead, overseeing the culture and results of an entire school. This position does not suit those seeking to lecture, adhere to fixed curricula, or simply occupy student time. It's designed for coaches, mentors, youth program leaders, performers, tutors, and educators whose definition of success centers on student transformation. Each finalist completes a full-day coaching session with actual Alpha students prior to any offer. If that prospect excites you more than standard interviews, we're eager to connect. What You Will Be DoingFacilitating energetic, one-hour life skills sessions for students in grades K-8, building communication, resilience, focus, leadership, and other foundational competencies while iterating to enhance session quality.Providing personalized coaching to students individually and in small groups, utilizing Coachbot analytics, tailored accountability measures, and Alpha's motivational frameworks to support every student in reaching ambitious weekly objectives.Evaluating life skill proficiency via Test2Pass and delivering focused coaching interventions until each student exhibits true competence, beyond mere engagement.Adjusting your coaching methods for elementary and middle school age ranges, recognizing when younger students need physical activity and positive reinforcement versus when older students require direct accountability.Reviewing weekly performance metrics to detect trends, eliminate barriers, and systematically enhance results across your entire student group. What You Won't Be DoingConducting traditional classroom lessons. AI manages academic instruction, allowing you to concentrate on student development.Grading assignments, developing lesson plans, or preparing students for standardized assessments.Supervising students as they work quietly on devices.
