Academic/General Counselor ResponsibilitiesAcademic/General Counselor responsibilities include providing academic counseling services in which students are assisted in identifying, planning and implementing their immediate and long‑range educational goals; providing student success counseling in which students are engaged in and assisted with identifying personal and academic strengths and challenges and developing life‑management skills that affect academic and personal success.The role of the general counselor includes assessing personal, career/vocational, family or other social concerns affecting students' academic success; empowering students to utilize college and community support services; referring students to personal and career counseling services when appropriate. The Academic/General Counselor is also responsible for providing project and/or program leadership and coordinating services as assigned by the District in support of the counseling and student development objectives of the college, Title 5 regulations, and other related state and federal regulations; developing and applying technology‑based counseling and advising services; collaborating and serving as liaison with instructional faculty and other educational entities and agencies as assigned; teaching Personal Development/College Success courses as assigned; participating in research and review of effectiveness of counseling programs; and participating in college‑wide, department, and individual professional development activities, including participation in the governance of the college via committee assignments.SalaryThe starting credit part‑time rate from salary table 9 is $45.06 per hour non‑Lecture. If you have a doctorate, the rate is $47.23 per hour non‑Lecture.QualificationsMaster's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, or the equivalent.Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).#J-18808-Ljbffr
