Tasting Room Associate

Buttonwood Farm & Winery is seeking a hospitality-focused Tasting Room Associate to join our team. Nestled in the heart of Santa Ynez wine country, Buttonwood is a working vineyard, winery, and destination where guests come to enjoy exceptional wines, beautiful surroundings, and genuine hospitality.

We are looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people, sharing stories, and creating memorable experiences. This role is ideal for an individual with previous tasting room experience who is passionate about wine, hospitality, and delivering personalized guest service.

What You'll Do

• Welcome guests and provide a warm, engaging tasting room experience
• Educate guests about Buttonwood wines, vineyard history, and winemaking practices
• Conduct wine tastings and make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences
• Process wine, merchandise, and club sales accurately through the POS system
• Promote wine club memberships and special events
• Maintain tasting room cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards
• Assist with inventory, restocking, opening, and closing duties
• Support winery events, private tastings, and special guest experiences as needed
• Collaborate with team members to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for guests

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a winery tasting room
• Weekend availability is required
• Strong hospitality and customer service skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to comfortably speak with guests about wine and the winery experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional appearance and demeanor

Preferred Qualifications

• Wine club sales experience
• Knowledge of Santa Barbara County wines and wine regions
• Experience with winery POS systems
• Passion for food, wine, agriculture, and hospitality

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, special events, and peak tourism periods
