The Coordinator administers departmental events, recruitment, outreach, course coordination, and the Disabled Students Program, while advising students on academic matters and maintaining the departmental website and social media presence.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience or trainingFamiliarity with academic advising or peer mentoringBasic knowledge of advising and counseling techniquesStrong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skillsAbility to work collaboratively with staff and facultyCreative problem‑solving abilitiesExercise good judgment, discretion, and attention to detailSpecial Conditions of EmploymentSome evening or weekend hours may be required for special annual eventsPositive criminal history required (background check)Mandated child abuse reportingUCSB is a tobacco‑free environmentMisconduct Disclosure RequirementFinal candidates must disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years establishing misconduct or appeals of substantiated misconduct at a previous employer. Misconduct includes violations of policies on sexual harassment, discrimination, or other workplace conduct.Job Functions and Percentages of Time30% Advising – Advise students on major, program policies, scheduling, and admissions during recruitment season.25% Undergraduate Program Support – Coordinate Disabled Students Program accommodations, manage exam schedules, and oversee chemistry course articulation.20% Student Affairs Support – Handle administrative tasks, recruitment materials, newsletters, evaluation reports, textbook orders, and grade submissions.15% Graduate Program Support – Assist the Graduate Advisor with academic files, admissions, orientation, and transcript evaluation.10% Department Support and Miscellaneous Duties – Maintain public displays, social media, and perform assigned tasks by the Department Chair or Student Affairs Manager.UC Vaccination Programs PolicyEmployees must comply with the University of California Vaccination Programs Policy and provide proof of vaccination or an exception request by the compliance date.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of California is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
