About the Position: Performs specialized and responsible office support work that requires knowledge of legal terminology and legal clerical procedures; and performs related work as required.
About the Department: Tehama County Department of Child Support Services is one of 47 local child support agencies in California. The department manages approximately 2,700 child support cases. Providing customers excellent service is a top priority. Legal Clerk I: EITHER One (1) year of full-time experience as an Office Assistant II; OR Two (2) years of full-time experience performing general clerical work. Legal Clerk II: EITHER One (1) year of full-time experience as a Legal Clerk I; OR Two (2) years of full-time experience performing general clerical work in a legal office environment. License & Special Requirements:
Recruitment Information: The department is recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy. Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Legal Clerk I/II, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list. Examination Information: In addition to meeting minimum qualifications for years of work experience in the field, candidates must complete a Training and Experience Examination. Responses will be evaluated by subject matter experts (e.g., managers of the position). Applicants who provide responses which demonstrate that they possess the requisite job-related education and experience on each exam section will be placed on the eligible list. Tentative T&E Examination Date(s): Exams will be emailed to candidates meeting minimum qualifications the week of June 22, 2026. *Candidates will have three (3) days to return a completed examination. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for July 1, 2026. *Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to interview. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
