Job ID: 40030886 | Salary Range: $97,200 – $103,325 (budgeted); up to $182,000.Location: Student Affairs & Admin Services – 3201BPosition: Financial Analyst 4 CX (006347) – full‑time, exempt, staff career.ResponsibilitiesLead the UCSB Glacier tax‑compliance system: monitor accounts, issue daily reports, and coordinate with campus departments.Prepare, review, and submit federal, state, and local tax returns and compliance reports, including UBIT, employment, contractor, and sales/use taxes.Act as Designated School Official (DSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and SEVIS, ensuring immigration and IRS compliance.Provide tax advisory services to departments and visiting researchers on a wide range of tax topics (international, non‑resident, property, e‑waste, etc.).Perform complex financial analysis and reporting, interpreting tax laws and applying them to university transactions.Reconcile accounts payable tax liabilities, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate with General Accounting and Procurement.Participate in special projects, process improvements, and cross‑functional initiatives.Serve on systemwide and campus committees related to tax, compliance, and financial operations.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.Advanced degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.4‑6 years of progressive experience in tax compliance, accounting, finance, or a related field within a large, complex organization.4‑6 years of experience preparing and reviewing tax returns and compliance reports at the federal, state, and local levels.4‑6 years of working knowledge of multiple tax areas (employment, contractors, sales/use, property, UBIT).4‑6 years of experience performing financial analysis and reporting related to tax laws and regulations.4‑6 years of experience with international tax issues, including non‑resident aliens, tax treaties, and foreign payments (highly desirable).4‑6 years of proven ability to provide tax guidance and advisory support to non‑financial stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications1‑3 years of experience serving as a functional lead or system administrator for tax compliance software (e.g., Glacier).Special Conditions of EmploymentMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.Must pass a satisfactory criminal history background check.UCSB is a tobacco‑free environment.Misconduct Disclosure RequirementApplicants must disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining misconduct, or any appeals of such findings.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of California is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
