LaunchPoint EPS is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer I to assist the mechanical engineering department with product development and document control activities.

What You'll Do

  • Primary responsibility is to provide mechanical engineering CAD design support for company projects
  • Serves as designer/drafter to conceptualize and translate mechanical 3D model designs into 2D detailed, accurate, and standardized technical drawings for engineering release
  • Technical Drawings: Layouts, envelope, interface, isometric, orthographic, assembly, sub-assembly, cable harness and detailed machining / fabrication drawings etc
  • Design support for production and test tooling and fixtures
  • Performs dimensional tolerance stackup of assemblies to ensure parts compatibility and total design accuracy
  • ECR release and Document Control of engineering documentation
  • Create Parts Master and Bills of Material in MRP system
  • Assists the engineering team with Configuration Management of engineering documentation
  • Act as a design liaison between suppliers, procurement, assembly, and test
  • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude, excellent communication, and creativity in mechanical design and engineering analysis
  • All other duties as assigned by the VP of Engineering

What You Need

  • AS Degree in STEM or related field and 3+ yrs related experience or BS Degree in STEM
  • Working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS CAD Software under limited or no supervision
  • Experience with complex assemblies including PCBA, harnessing, flexible assemblies and electronics enclosures
  • Familiarity and operational understanding of GD&T principles
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Extreme attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Highly Desirable Competencies (Bonus Qualifications)

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Advanced working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Working knowledge of and experience implementing EIA-649, National Consensus Standard for Configuration Management, and/or GEIA-859, Data Management, as they apply to hardware development efforts
  • Familiarity and operational understanding of electric motors, generators, motion control electronics, and power electronics
  • Working in an AS9100 QMS environment

Salary and Pay Transparency

Salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000. Base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and all applicable company benefits.
