Director of Parent Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

  2026-05-19     CrossOver     Santa Barbara,CA
Description:

Overview

The families you serve don't require additional services. They require someone they trust implicitly. This position operates at the core of that trust relationship. You will be the individual families turn to when something doesn't feel right, when they seek clarity, or when they want to discuss what's important. Not as a transactional obligation—but because you've built it over time. Your influence will define how they engage with their child's education at one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school. Students finish core academics in two hours daily through AI-powered platforms, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real-world application. No traditional lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Top 1% academic outcomes nationally. Our families are discerning, well-informed, and frequently skeptical. They require substantive thinking, not rehearsed responses.

You will lead that dialogue over the long term. Not merely during enrollment, but across multiple years. You will discuss AI fluently—its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who launch companies, fund them, or demand rigor in all decisions. If you lack the depth to sustain that conversation, this role will prove demanding. If you possess it, the position becomes among the most intellectually stimulating in education.

This is not client management. This is enduring trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who demand confidentiality, discernment, and reliability. If that setting feels natural—and you use AI daily to think, communicate, and work more effectively—you will grasp the opportunity at once.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Own the complete relationship arc with every family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens across time
  • Identify concerns proactively and address them with confidentiality, urgency, and thoughtful judgment
  • Sustain strong visibility during critical moments: morning arrival, afternoon departure, and thoughtfully designed parent gatherings
  • Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-driven approach with highly analytical, technology-oriented families
  • Create and iterate on community experiences that foster belonging, endorsement, and referral growth

What You Won't Be Doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment quotas—your engagement begins once families enroll
  • Operating from behind a desk or relying solely on email communication—this demands consistent physical presence
  • Adhering to scripts or avoiding challenging questions regarding AI or education
  • Depending on fixed procedures—you will create frameworks where none currently exist
  • Viewing families as transactional accounts—this role values judgment over task execution
