Description:

Process Engineer for III-V Semiconductor Devices

Edison is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to lead the development and optimization of advanced III-V semiconductor fabrication processes, with a focus on GaAs based laser devices.

This is a hands on, technical role spanning both research development and device fabrication. You will play a key role in developing robust, repeatable processes and supporting the transition of experimental device concepts into reliable fabrication flows.

What you'll be doing

  • Own and develop end-to-end III-V device fabrication processes
  • Work across lithography, dry/wet etching, thin film deposition, and metallization
  • Design and execute process development, qualification, and yield improvement experiments
  • Integrate unit processes into full device fabrication flows for photonic structures
  • Troubleshoot process and device performance issues using data-driven analysis
  • Collaborate closely with academic researchers and external partners on process transfer and optimization
  • Supervise and support a process technician in daily cleanroom operations
  • Maintain process documentation, control plans, and fabrication records
  • Operate within a multi-user cleanroom with dynamic priorities and shared equipment

What you'll need

  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor cleanroom process engineering
  • Strong background in lithography, etching, and thin film deposition techniques
  • Experience with III-V materials (e.g., GaAs, InP, GaN) strongly preferred
  • Understanding of process control, yield improvement, and root cause analysis
  • Experience working in both R&D and fabrication environments
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and academic teams
  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is an advantage
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

Company

This is a unique opportunity to work on next-generation semiconductor and photonic device technologies for a VC backed startup, in a highly collaborative research environment, with direct impact on advanced device development and process innovation.
