Contingency Statement
This position and start date is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. In the unexpected event that funding is not continued, the position will be reevaluated, and the selected applicant will be notified of any changes in a timely manner.
ROLE OR PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Data Analyst will support the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition project, specifically supporting the collection, management and organization of data in line with donor and organizational requirements. Transforming Lives is a grant-funded program implemented through a consortium of project partners, including Vitamin Angel Alliance, Helen Keller International, and iDE Global. The project's primary objective is to improve maternal and child health by strengthening health and food systems to deliver proven nutrition interventions to women and children.
The Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring timely, high-quality project data for reporting, accountability, and decision-making. The role is based at Vitamin Angels and involves close collaboration with Vitamin Angels' global and country Monitoring and Evaluation teams, local implementing agencies, and M&E staff within consortium partner agencies.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Analyst will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure quality data is obtained from Vitamin Angels' local program partners through:
- Conducting regular quality assurance (QA) checks of records (e.g., grants, quarterly reports, etc.) to ensure data is complete, accurate, and up to date
- Support the review of system workflows to reduce manual data entry errors and enforce reporting standards while promoting consistent data management processes across all country-level M&E teams
- Identify data gaps or inconsistencies and propose practical and feasible solutions in coordination with the M&E unit and program management teams
- Monitor and maintain the global database of program partner reports through:
- Tracking of received and outstanding reports in partnership with in-country teams and maintaining a clear audit trail of reports
- Conducting data validation checks and liaising with in-country teams and/or program management to address any identified issues
- Support data extraction, report generation and the establishment and maintenance of an internal data dashboard specific to the project
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), training guidance, and action plans to support program partner data entry ensuring complete, on time, and accurate reporting
- Work in partnership with the global and country M&E teams at Vitamin Angels to proactively identify opportunities to strengthen reporting, data handling, and document the systematization of these processes
- Participate in, and contribute to, project-wide monitoring and evaluation coordination activities, supporting other project M&E initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Level of Decision-Making Within the bounds of VA's mission, values and policies, and sound professional practices, the Data Analyst has the discretion to use independent judgment to make decisions of significant consequence that affect VA clients, partners, and employees.
Organizational Relationships VA operates under a collaborative, matrix management model. The Data Analyst establishes their own daily work priorities and ensures that all responsibilities are conducted consistent with accepted best practices, sound professional judgment and within an established schedule and budget.

Travel required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum - Final round candidates will be expected to provide 3 professional references including at least 2 former supervisors, preferably from their most recent positions.
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, statistics, information systems, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience engaged in data management, information management, reporting or MEL for international development or public health programming
- Previous experience working with Salesforce (preferably grants or program management modules)
Necessary:- Experience developing data quality assessment procedures and conducting checks
- Experience developing and maintaining dashboards with tools such as Microsoft Power BI
- Experience working in Africa and/or Asia, with a deep understanding of government-led health management information systems (HMIS) e.g., DHIS, etc.
- Ability to perform duties that require very close attention to detail, synthesize large amounts of information effectively and manage multiple reporting cycles
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with excellent organizational abilities
- Strong problem-solving mindset and proactive approach to data quality improvement
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to manage stress, including but not limited to stress resulting from local and foreign travel, large crowds, open spaces, shared office space, and daily activities
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time, including but not limited to prolonged air travel and general job assignments performed at a desk
- Must have a valid passport, necessary travel visas, government-issued identification and the ability to travel internationally
- Ability to receive necessary vaccines and medication for travel to certain countries.
Desired:- Master's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Epidemiology or related field
- Knowledge of global health and nutrition issues, and prior experience working in low- and middle-income countries in a similar capacity/role is highly desirable
- Experience developing reporting tools, guidance or training materials to support reporting
- French language skills are a strong advantage
