Description of Position
The Programmer Analyst - Institutional Research provides advanced technical, analytical, and programming support to Yavapai College's Institutional Effectiveness & Research (IER) department. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of institutional data by developing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines, integrations, reports, dashboards, and analytics systems used across the College.

This position plays a key role in institutional decision-support, student success initiatives, state and federal compliance reporting, accreditation support, and data quality assurance for Banner SaaS and the Ellucian Insights (ODS/EDW) environment.

This position may be fully remote, with occasional travel to Prescott, Arizona.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL/PLSQL scripts, stored procedures, packages, and views to support analytics, dashboards, and operational reporting.
  • Retrieve, validate, and reconcile data across Banner, SaaS data warehouse environments, third-party systems, and internal IER datasets.
  • Create and maintain automated data workflows and pipelines to ensure reliable, timely data availability for institutional stakeholders.
  • Develop datasets, dashboards, and analytics products for institutional leadership, student success teams, academic departments, and administrative units.
  • Produce structured data files for mandatory state, federal, and accreditation reporting, including IPEDS, National Student Clearinghouse, AZ state reports, and HLC evidence documentation.
  • Implement data validation routines, audits, and reconciliation methods to ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Document data definitions, logic, requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional data governance practices, privacy laws, and data-security standards.
  • Partner with academic and administrative departments to understand data needs and develop technical solutions that support planning, assessment, budgeting, and student-success initiatives.
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to end-users on data tools, dashboard navigation, and data interpretation.
  • Assist with cross-functional projects, strategic planning efforts, and ad-hoc analysis requests.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field-or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least four years of experience in database development/administration, data warehousing, programming, analytics, or business intelligence.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems (Banner preferred).
  • Experience supporting compliance reporting (IPEDS, AZ state reporting, HLC, NSCH).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Professional experience in a community college or higher-education environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian systems: Banner, DegreeWorks, ODS/EDW, Insights, etc.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), scripting languages (Python), or cloud data platforms.
