Assistant Project Manager - Power Delivery (Transmission and Distribution) PMP

Description:

Join our dynamic team in Allentown, PA, where you'll play a pivotal role in managing utility projects within the power delivery sector. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects that keep communities powered and connected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a staff augment Project Manager within one of PPL's power delivery departments in Pennsylvania, focusing on either Transmission or Distribution.
  • Report to a client Project Manager or Senior Project Manager and follow their directives.
  • Manage small utility projects ranging from $250k to $5M from engineering kickoff through project closeout.
  • Oversee the design phase, including all facets of engineering such as physical/electrical, protection & control, and SCADA.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and permitting requirements, including ROW, permitting, environmental, survey, and customer engagement.
  • Conduct pre-execution planning, including resource establishment, RFPs, POs, and outage oversight.
  • Manage project execution, including day-to-day task management, milestone achievements, and testing/commissioning.
  • Oversee project closeout, including punch lists, facility acceptance, and administrative actions.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive schedule to coordinate all activities and achieve key in-service dates.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Utility experience is not required.
  • Prior experience in construction management, engineering management, or limited project management is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects through their full life-cycle, from design to closeout.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not mandatory if offset by relevant experience.
  • PMP certification is advantageous but not required.
  • Master's Degree is not necessary.
Experience Level
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction management experience.
