Senior Backend Software Engineer, core Java, Full Time, Hybrid, NYC $150-175K

Industry leading financial technology company based in NYC, has an immediate need for a Senior Software Engineer with Backend Java development expertise to join their growing platform engineering team. An ideal candidate is a self motivated, team player with a strong aptitude for technology and the digital marketplace including large scale trading platforms, digital assets, settlement systems, fund management and Stablecoins. They will partner with fellow engineers who pioneer the digital landscape. You should possess a command of Backend Java development, web socket programming, knowledge of network systems, cloud technology and Linux. The ability to contribute to various stages of the software development, delivery, and support process including analysis, design, implementation, and testing is required. Candidates must be able to work for any company without a visa transfer.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code.
• Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements.
• Partner with cross functional teams to ensure delivery of projects that meet business objectives and compliance standards.
• Participate in code reviews, peer review processes, support testing and deployment of new products and features.
• Adhere to technical and architectural best practices and standards for the company.
• Implement features and correct software defects.
• Demonstrate features meet business requirements to stakeholders.
• Participation in and contribution to technical documentation for the organization.

• 5+ years of Backend Java software development (analysis, development, testing, documentation).
• Expertise in Object Oriented Design and Database Design (PostGres preferred), and Web Socket programming.
• Strong understanding of event driven I/O, preferably Kafka.
• Experience with BDD/TDD and unit testing frameworks (JUnit).
• Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Cloud experience, (GCP a plus).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, tech forward, transparent, organizationally flat environment where ideas can come from anywhere and execution is everything.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment a plus.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or work equivalent.

• Scripting knowledge is desirable (Perl, Python, Unix Shell scripting).
• Experience with Solidity programming, smart contracts, Ethereum/Blockchain.
• Experience building global settlements platforms for FX trading.
• Experience with Stablecoins, digital asset trading, fund management, FX trading.
