Job Description

Responsible for supporting Sterile Processing operations and its services to other departments in the hospital. Uses sterile processing techniques to deliver clean/sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies to SPD customers.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, disinfects, processes, and sterilizes reusable instruments per policies and procedure. (50%)
  • Restocks inventory and supplies. Receives and fills orders, as well as posts charges. (10%)
  • Operates sterilization equipment. (10%)
  • Routinely cleans department. (10%)
  • Rounds facility to retrieve equipment. (5%)
  • Participates in maintaining the inventory and automation components of instrument tracking. (10%)
  • Acts as lead tech in the absence of the supervisor. (5%)

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Minimum:
  • Certification in Sterile Processing or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum:
  • Background knowledge with respect to the care and handling of instrumentation as well as familiarity with sterilization processes.
Preferred:
  • Computer skills.

  • Must be able to follow the highest of standards dictated by the governing bodies over sterile processing and infection control.
