Job Description


We are seeking an Environment, Safety and Health (EHS) Lab Analyst to support our EHS efforts. This role is on-site in Carpinteria, CA. It is a full-time, contract role. The EHS Analyst is responsible for supporting activities related to environmental, safety and health at the site and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and laws to prevent hazards and injuries.

What You'll Do

  • Provide a working interface between the facilities, Business Unit Management, and the Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Department

  • Develop policies, standards and procedures and work with management to ensure implementation and uniform compliance with regards to federal, state, local and company regulations throughout the facility

  • Oversee the sites safety committee, where each lab has representation. Serve as facilitator for the safety committee and ensure that safety committee members are engaged in the overall EHS management of the campus

  • Coordinate reporting, tracking, root cause and trend analysis of workplace incidents, injuries and illnesses as well as environmental incidents. Create corrective actions and assign to responsible parties as necessary

  • Provide guidance and improve JSA and Risk assessments. Ensure that all labs have captured routine tasks in the JSA's and understand when to utilize a non-routine risk assessment

  • Work with management to set short (annual) and long term (3-5 year) goals for safety, health and environmental system improvements which include suitable reductions in injury and illness and environmental incidents

  • Facilitate and direct efforts to meet or exceed the goals

  • Provide guidance to the management team for continuous improvement for the overall safety culture

  • Work with site resources to plan, administer and track multiple safety programs including hazardous communication, contractor safety, machine guarding, behavioral based safety, powered industrial truck, electrical safety, and other safety policies/procedures

  • Facilitate and provide guidance and expertise in safety, health and environmental activities (following the Hierarchy of Controls) such as workplace inspections, new/existing equipment risk assessments, and industrial hygiene surveys. Work with lab mangers to standardize all EHS documentation

  • Manage facility environmental permits, track annual energy reduction projects and monthly safety and environmental metrics

  • Responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the EH&S management system tool

  • Oversee the management of change (MOC) process to include any process changes and new or transferred equipment

  • Assist or lead internal or external audits as needed

  • Participate in internal and external audits, provide corrective actions, assign responsibility, and track to closure


What You Need
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or safety science or other related technical field and 3-5 years of EH&S working experience or a combination of education and experience is preferred

  • Behavioral Based Safety experience

  • Knowledge of environmental permitting

  • • Working knowledge of industrial ergonomics

  • • Ability to work with and mange safety initiatives across several BU's and management teams

  • Written and verbal communication skills to facilitate communication with Business Unit Management, laboratory staff, and shop floor personnel including ability to prepare and deliver presentations

  • Experience managing electrical and chemical safety programs

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$58.00 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
