As a Bakery Department Supervisor, you will ensure a safe and clean environment that encourages customer loyalty while achieving sales and profit goals. Responsibilities

  • Foster an atmosphere of trust and respect among team members while communicating relevant information.
  • Promote teamwork and collaborate with associates to achieve company and store objectives.
  • Set performance goals for the department and empower associates to excel.
  • Manage scheduling effectively to meet customer demand during operational hours.
  • Train and mentor associates on job performance and participate in performance evaluations.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company policies.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers, sharing bakery specials and product recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of all products offered in the department.
  • Prepare bakery items based on customer requests, utilizing appropriate equipment and offering samples to enhance customers' experience.
  • Ensure product freshness while providing correct portion sizes to minimize waste.
  • Utilize bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Work with store management to develop a business plan for the department to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Submit seasonal critiques to the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions and communicate this with associates.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and assist in budget preparation and financial reporting.
  • Implement routine price changes and update promotional signage.
  • Organize and oversee the inventory process.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, ensuring proper cooking techniques and temperature monitoring.
  • Reinforce safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or safety risks.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
  • Notify management of any customer or employee incidents.
  • Report safety risks, and incidents of theft or fraud.
  • Possess the ability to work well in a fast-paced, often demanding environment.
  • Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Act with integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary for resolution of issues.
  • Support and assist customers of all ages and abilities.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Fundamental mathematics knowledge.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Must obtain a food handlers permit once hired.

Desired:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in management.
  • Experience in the bakery industry.
