Position Summary
The City of West St Paul is seeking a creative, organized, and community focused professional to join our team.
The Communications and Engagement Coordinator support the city's communications, engagement, and funding/sponsorship-seeking efforts. Working closely with the Communications and Grants Manager and city departments, this position helps implement communication and engagement initiatives, while also supporting grant and sponsorship funding.
Primary Duties
- Create, edit, and schedule content aligning with strategic priorities for city social media platforms.
- Create content (written, design, photography, and videography) for various platforms including social media, digital, and print materials.
- Create graphics and videos for internal and external communications.
- Assist with developing, growing, and interacting with audiences on social media and websites.
- Coordinate with the Events, Engagement, and Communication team, which is comprised of staff from the following departments: Police, Public Works, Parks and Rec, Community Development, and Fire.
- Attend and assist at events during and outside of normal office hours
- Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications- Experience in communications, marketing, social media, community outreach, event coordination, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to produce written, visual, and video content for various platforms.
- Must possess valid driver's license without suspensions or revocations within the last three years.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design, or a related field.
- Verbal or written understanding of Spanish language.
- Experience with grants or fundraising.
- Experience working in or with local government or public sector organizations.
