General Purpose
Responsible for managing and supervising all assigned areas under the Store Manager, following company policies related to customers, associates, and merchandising. In the Store Manager's absence, the Assistant Manager leads the entire store operation to meet company standards and best practices.
Essential Functions
- Lead Company best practices and maximize productivity.
- Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall performance.
- Communicate variances to the Store Manager.
- Schedule associates to meet business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
- Oversee associate cleaning tasks throughout the store.
- Accept special assignments from leadership.
- Administer payroll including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and reporting.
Organizational Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop non‑exempt associates.
- Maintain compliance with Ross personnel policies.
- Assist with associate relations issues by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager.
Expense Control
- Monitor expenditures to stay within budget.
- Control payroll hours to meet current business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment
- Practice and promote safety as the top priority.
- Ensure associates can execute emergency procedures.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings.
Customer Service & Brand Representation
- Treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Execute customer service and merchandise presentation programs through training and supervision.
- Coach associates for efficient, friendly service at registers, customer service desk, fitting rooms, and sales floor.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and easy‑to‑shop environment.
Merchandise Processing & In‑Store Marketing
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
- Present and organize merchandise per company guidelines.
- Manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within expected timeframes.
Loss Prevention
- Train associates on loss prevention awareness and store shortage goals.
- Maintain a strong loss prevention presence on the sales floor.
- Assist in the annual inventory process and policy compliance.
- Monitor out‑of‑stock and PVM system maintenance.

Qualifications & Special Skills
- 2+ years of store or assistant store manager experience in retail.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and positively communicate with associates.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and independent judgment skills.
- High quality customer service focus.
- Fluency in English.
- Availability for evenings and weekends.
- Basic mathematical calculation skills for retail use.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Use store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Additional qualifications may apply to specific assignments.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of all non‑exempt associates.

Compensation
Base pay range: $20.00 – $27.68 per hour, based on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location.
