Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Commercial Chiller Service Technician in Santa Barbara Metro, CA to maintain large tonnage chillers for commercial buildings, universities, and healthcare facilities.

Impact

• Support critical operations by maintaining cooling systems for hospitals, research facilities, and commercial properties

• Minimize equipment downtime through expert diagnostics and proactive maintenance programs

• Optimize chiller efficiency and reduce energy costs through precision tuning and water treatment management

• Extend equipment life and protect investments through comprehensive preventive maintenance

• Build lasting client relationships through professional service and technical expertise

Responsibilities

• Service commercial chillers including water-cooled and air-cooled centrifugal, screw, and scroll models

• Troubleshoot and repair chiller failures involving compressors, motors, control panels, and refrigerant circuits

• Conduct performance testing including oil sampling, refrigerant leak detection, and vibration analysis

• Manage water treatment programs and inspect heat exchangers for scaling and corrosion

• Respond to service calls to restore cooling operations for hospitals and research facilities

• Inspect cooling towers, pumps, and chilled water distribution systems for proper operation

• Document service activities and provide clients with detailed reports and recommendations

• Coordinate equipment shutdowns and major overhauls with facility operations teams

• Mentor junior technicians on chiller troubleshooting and repair procedures

Requirements

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of commercial chiller service experience

• EPA Universal refrigerant certification

• Strong knowledge of chiller operations, controls, and refrigerant systems

• Valid California driver's license with clean record

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Nice-to-Haves

• OEM certification from major chiller manufacturers (York, Trane, Carrier)

• Experience with healthcare or research facility chiller systems

• Knowledge of building automation and BACnet protocols

• OSHA 30 certification
