Novacoast Staffing is currently working with a Public Sector entity in its search for a Network/ System Engineer. This is the opportunity to make a big contribution in a small Infrastructure team. To qualify, you must have three years of increasingly responsible network administration and applications support experience. This is a hybrid contract to hire role.

Core responsibilities:

• Perform network and applications support activities including specifying, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex information technology hardware and software; working with physical and virtual servers, storage area networks, backup and recovery systems, local area and wide area network equipment, computer work stations, laptops, tablet computers and other peripheral equipment related to operations.
• Troubleshoot existing computer applications and equipment; analyze problems; make setup and configuration changes to systems and applications as needed.
• Perform installations, upgrades and patching of all computers and servers, operating systems, applications, network infrastructure, including technologies unique to an assigned department.
• Participate in task prioritization and planning of future Information Technology and equipment required to meet business operation needs.
• Provide on-call and after hours support when needed; triage issues and engage contractors as necessary.
• Prepare system and user documentation.
• Occasional tier-3 troubleshooting when general issues are escalated.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• 3+ years- Microsoft Windows Server, VMware, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft SCCM, anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-malware software, Internet, remote access, and computer and network utilities, software and applications specific to departmental operations.
• 3+ years - Network equipment (such as switches, routers, and firewalls), servers, storage devices, backup and recovery systems, computer work stations, laptops, and tablets and other peripherals.
• 3+ years- Windows applications, databases, and related configuration requirements. Basic principles of networks and security.
• 3+ years experience with Installation, support, and troubleshooting of computer systems, networks, applications, including technologies unique to an assigned department.
• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science or a related field. MCSE and CCNA certifications are desirable.

Pay rate for this role is $45-$52/ hour.
