Caregiver / Companion – Hospice Facility
Location: Rancho Mission Viejo, CA
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite
Shifts Available: Day, Afternoon, Night, and Weekends
Priority Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Compensation: $25.00–$28.00/hr. DOE
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Caregiver/Companion to support patients within a professional hospice facility. This is a full-time, onsite role providing daily care, companionship, and assistance to individuals who require a calm, gentle presence.
This position is ideal for an experienced caregiver, a recent graduate entering the healthcare field, or someone who needs a stable environment with periods of downtime suitable for quiet study (as appropriate to patient needs).
A pleasant demeanor, clean and neat appearance, and the ability to stay composed in emotionally sensitive environments are essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and a comforting presence to hospice patients
• Assist patients safely in and out of bed, wheelchairs, and other mobility devices
• Assist during feeding and ensure meals are consumed safely and comfortably
• Monitor patient condition and promptly report changes to facility staff
• Drive patients to scheduled appointments—clean driving record required
• Maintain a tidy, organized, and sanitary living area for patient comfort
• Support general caregiving tasks such as repositioning, transferring, and light housekeeping
• Follow all facility policies and care plans established by medical and nursing staff
• Provide reliable, consistent attendance and maintain professional conduct at all times
• Demonstrate patience, compassion, and a thick-skinned temperament appropriate for hospice care
Qualifications
• Previous professional caregiver experience highly preferred, especially within a facility setting
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients safely (including mobility support and repositioning)
• Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, compassionate, and patient-centered approach
• Ability to maintain boundaries, professionalism, and emotional resilience in end-of-life environments
• Reliable, organized, and able to follow care plans and facility protocols
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• TB test, background check, or medical clearance may be required per facility standards
