Instructor Position

Abbey Road is a summer study abroad program for American and international teenagers. Our programs take place in the month of July in various locations across Western Europe, Canada and the United States. For detailed information regarding locations and dates please refer to our website.

Abbey Road is seeking dynamic individuals with strong academic and teaching credentials to serve as Instructors for our international (Canada, France, Spain, Italy) and domestic (Santa Barbara, Boston, Miami, Portland, Honolulu) programs. Subjects include foreign languages (French, Spanish, Italian), Art History, History, Studio Art, International Relations, Business, Photography, Design etc. Instructors have an important role in shaping and executing the academic curriculum. They work with the rest of program staff and share the responsibility for student supervision, mentoring and leading program activities.

Responsibilities

• Create lesson plans based on the Experiential Learning Method and research the host community to determine locations for on-site lessons and class discussions.
• Provide instruction for all regularly scheduled classes and extra tutoring when necessary.
• Evaluate and grade students in a timely manner. Provide each student with written comments and documentation of his or her grade at the mid-point and the end of the program.
• Communicate with the Group Leader about any student issues in the classroom or regarding the program in general.
• Initiate, organize, and supervise students during various program activities and events, such as travel, excursions, recreation, cultural events, evening outings, etc.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in the target language, if applicable.
• 5+ years of teaching experience.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Ability to inspire and share your passion for the subject matter with your students.
• Ability to teach interactively, experientially, using innovative ideas and methods.
