Base pay range

$19.00/hr - $22.00/hr

A Day in the Life

This is a full-time, non-exempt, and temporary 3-month position, with potential extension based on budget and staffing needs. The role involves assisting the Facilities team in maintaining Garden facilities to ensure safety, functionality, and beauty for visitors, staff, and volunteers. Tasks are managed by the Facilities Manager. General maintenance knowledge is a plus but not required. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of Backcountry restrooms and fixtures, and monitor other public restrooms on busy days
• Set up and take down equipment for meetings, classes, and events
• Manage outdoor trash cans, rake trails, and perform general area upkeep
• Perform minor repairs on buildings and grounds, including carpentry, painting, and plumbing, as directed
• Assist Facilities and Horticulture staff with various tasks
• Collaborate with Facilities volunteers to complete tasks

Requirements

• Ability to work well with coworkers and maintain professionalism with staff, visitors, and volunteers
• Basic knowledge of carpentry and plumbing, and basic power tool skills (drill, circular saw, etc.)
• Valid California driver license and clean driving record
• Physical ability to stand/walk for extended periods, lift/carry 50 lbs., and navigate trails

The work environment is outdoors, with exposure to temperature fluctuations, rain, dust, allergens, poison oak, insects, small animals, and sun.
