Job Location: Mar Monte Hotel - Santa Barbara, CA. Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00.

Primary mission
Direct and supervise the daily operations of the hotel's front office within corporate and hotel guidelines to provide the highest standards of courteous service while permitting acceptable profit levels. The position supervises daily operations in maintaining the Front Desk and Guest Services operating efficiently and effectively, and may supervise other areas as Manager on Duty in the absence of other supervisory personnel.

- Assist the Director of Rooms in all areas requested and act in their place during their absence
Responsibilities
- Review VIP reservations, amenity orders, and resumes for incoming and in‑house guests. Update the computer system by inputting inventory and non‑inventory groups. Control suites to ensure suites and special blocks are handled correctly. Communicate with other departments to ensure proper handling of guests and groups. Maintain contact with Reservations and Sales regarding requests for suites and special accommodations. Maintain control over rate changes on in‑house guests.
- Compute daily payroll, schedules, and other reports. Analyze data and make decisions based on experience to prepare daily forecast of expected arrivals and departures.
- Perform front desk supervisor duties; handle cash, balance a house bank, and process vouchers, credit cards, and other payments. Reconcile end of shift cash and payments.
- Remain calm during emergencies or busy periods; resolve complications and negotiate results. Research and implement effective solutions to guest issues.
- Communicate effectively to staff; observe performance and encourage improvement. Administer disciplinary procedures. Monitor lobby traffic and adjust staffing accordingly.
- Organize and coordinate all front office meetings. Attend mandatory hotel meetings, representing the front office in the absence of the Director of Front Office Operations.
- Monitor and report on expenses (payroll and supplies) to control costs while ensuring adequate staff and supplies.
- Refer and follow up on maintenance issues with Engineering to protect hotel assets and maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
- Implement emergency training and procedures to ensure protection of guests, staff and assets.
- Assist with responsibilities in the absence or during high volume in Bell Person, PBX Operator, and Reservationist roles as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years in a related position with this company or other organizations.
- IT Expertise: Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, Outlook, PMS) and web analytics tools is preferred. Ability to operate a computer, calculator, phone switchboard/console, printer, and basic systems.
- Education: Two‑year college degree or equivalent required.
- Subject expertise: Thorough knowledge of Front Office Operations; supervisory/management skills; strong customer service and sales orientation; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment; basic financial understanding and arithmetic.
- Must type 45 wpm and maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Other expectations
- Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
- Demonstrate knowledge of company safety and security procedures.
- Travel as needed for hotel familiarization and content creation; occasional weekend or holiday work may be required.
- Hours may align with Springboard business hours (generally Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm PST) with additional hotel coverage as needed.
