Avantor is seeking a skilled and motivated Sr. Mechanic to enhance our dynamic NuSil team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of complex business and technology initiatives that drive innovation.

This full-time position is based at our Carpinteria, CA facility and involves hands-on responsibilities in assembling, fabricating, and repairing mechanical and electrical components per specifications and drawings. If you possess strong mechanical knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and experience with various tools, we want to hear from you!

About the NuSil Team

Our NuSil team is a vital part of Avantor's Biomaterials unit, dedicated to supporting laboratories worldwide by integrating cutting-edge technologies into their operations and enhancing overall lab processes.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 1-3 years in a relevant industry with a solid understanding of mechanical principles and fabrication processes. Proficiency with hand and power tools is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training or certifications
  • ASME Section IX B31.3 certification
  • AWS D1.6 Structural certification
  • Experience as an Electrical apprentice
  • Skills in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, pipe fitting, sheet metal work, machining, plumbing, and/or electrical tasks

Your Contribution and Impact

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install equipment or components using various tools and machinery
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to understand project requirements
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on existing mechanical systems
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and safety regulations
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, providing effective solutions
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all safety protocols
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet project deadlines
  • Document all work processes and maintain records

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing, bending, and working in confined spaces
  • Use of personal protective equipment is required

Work Environment:

  • Typical work will be conducted in a manufacturing or workshop setting
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position ranges from $60,100.00 to $100,100.00. Actual pay may vary based on experience and location.
