We are seeking a talented Assistant Director of Engineering to join our team and contribute to the reopening of our newly remodeled resort in the American Riviera, Santa Barbara!

What you will do:

We are looking for an Assistant Director of Engineering who will assist the Director of Engineering in all aspects of resort and building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint, and decorating. The role involves responding to inquiries and problems efficiently, courteously, and professionally to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while adhering to Four Seasons' policies.

Assist in hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, counseling, and evaluating maintenance staff performance. Ensure proper execution of work orders and follow-up actions. Prepare requisitions for purchases and work orders, liaising effectively with the Director of Purchasing. Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies, and rules to ensure departmental efficiency. Maintain logs of stock items and tools, and monitor their distribution.

What you bring:

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in a hotel/resort environment and expert technical knowledge of general building maintenance and environmental standards, preferably on luxury properties.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong experience managing capital projects, renovations, and new construction projects.
  • Passionate and motivated leader with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, integrity, and transparency.
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, a passion for service, and a desire to foster professional development.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate computer equipment and various system applications.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking); Spanish is preferred.
  • Flexible schedule to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with both day and evening shifts.
