Job Summary

Design, develop, and maintain software applications and enterprise solutions that support academic and administrative functions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze business needs, and ensure the development of scalable, user-friendly, and efficient applications. Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, application design, testing, deployment, optimization, and ongoing support. Implement best practices in software architecture and integration, ensuring seamless interoperability between systems. Maintain and enhance existing applications by identifying and resolving issues, improving performance, and optimizing workflows to align with organizational objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong proficiency of Java (J2SE, Java 8) and object-oriented programming principles
• Strong experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks such as Sencha ExtJS, React, or Vue.js
• Experience in developing single-page applications using MVC architecture
• Advanced knowledge of web technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and JSP
• Experience with RESTful API development and integration
• Strong database skills including SQL query writing and stored procedure development
• Experience with modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA
• Ability to design and implement efficient, maintainable code following industry best practices
• Skill to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years professional software development experience encompassing full project lifecycle
• Strong proficiency of Java (J2SE, Java 8) and object-oriented programming
• Demonstrated proficiency with front-end JavaScript frameworks, particularly Sencha ExtJS
• Advanced SQL skills with ability to write complex queries
• Experience with Oracle and/or MySQL relational databases (minimum 2 years)
• Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN)
• Experience deploying applications on JBoss/Wildfly application server
• Demonstrated experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Sencha ExtJS highly desirable
• Experience with Spring Framework and Hibernate/JPA
• Working knowledge of Python programming language
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Familiarity with cloud services and deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for web applications

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications and interfaces that meet university requirements and contribute to university goals while ensuring reliability, scalability, and usability.

Key Responsibilities

Perform requirements analysis, application design and development, testing, bug fixing, deployment, optimization, support and maintenance using Java, J2EE, Java Spring Boot, HTML5, CSS, and Javascript Frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Develop server-side scripts and applications in Java, utilizing APIs based on RESTful principles, Web Services, JSON, and XML for seamless data interchange and communication within distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

Proficiently leverage SQL programming , execute queries and administer Database Management Systems (DBMS) including Oracle and MySQL. to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval and management in alignment with university objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Use IDE programming interfaces for efficient software design and maintenance. Configure and customize the IDE environment to suit project requirements.

Work Schedule

Normal working hours are 8am-5pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Work may be performed remotely from a home address within commuting distance of the listed worksite address.
