Read more about the Airport Department here.BENEFITSTHE POSITIONUnder the general direction of the Marketing Supervisor, the Marketing Coordinator will support the planning and implementation of all marketing and communication functions for Santa Barbara Airport. These functions include the following: developing and managing internal and external communications; maintaining brand identity and consistency throughout all marketing and communication efforts; supporting stakeholder engagement efforts; planning community engagement events and programs; and other needs of the Airport Department related to marketing and communications.The Marketing Coordinator should be a well-rounded communications professional; a generalist with experience managing a wide variety of marketing and communications programs. Ideal candidates are independent self-starters, strong writers, highly creative, supportive team members, organized individuals, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Experience within customer-driven public sector entities or non-profits will be helpful.EMPLOYMENT STANDARDSKnowledge of: Marketing strategies, principles, and best practicesWebsite design and content managementSocial media platform development and managementDesign programs including Adobe Creative Suite and CanvaMicrosoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TeamsAbility to:Write and edit materials for diverse channels and audiences, including website articles, social media posts, and press releasesManage content, strategy, and engagement for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTubeProduce and design graphics for both digital and print materials, including flyers, digital ads, and social media graphicsSupport the planning and implementation of events ranging from large-scale community events to smaller in-terminal activations Coordinate and facilitate outreach efforts, including on-site educational events/field trips and external community engagement opportunitiesTrack, analyze, and provide reports on performance metrics for various communications channelsWork collaboratively with other Airport divisions, City departments, external stakeholders, and community partners on projects, events, and communication needsPositively represent the Airport and City at various community events, networking opportunities, and industry conferencesDemonstrate high levels of organization and time management skills while balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentExperience/Education: 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in the marketing and/or communications field. Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or related field is desirable.Physical Conditions: Requires frequent walking and standing; the ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds; stoop and crouch and handle recreational equipment.SELECTION PROCESSApplicants must submit a completed City application and responses to the supplemental questionnaire. STEP INCREASES, through the top salary step, are tied to job performance with annual performance reviews. Employees receive annual performance reviews.THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS may vary and are subject to collective bargaining:Note: Part-time employees receive pro-rated benefits, e.g., 50%, 60%, etc. The City is a member of the Coastal Housing Partnership, which offers home loan assistance and rental reductions.A standard 9/80 schedule is observed, with most offices closed every other Friday.Flexwork/Telecommuting is available.Bilingual pay may be available at a rate of $64 / pay period.Vacation is accrued at 96 hours / year, increasing with City service.Personal leave (32 hours) is provided each July 1st at the start of the fiscal year (pro-rated the first year).Sick leave is accrued at the rate of 96 hours / year.Holidays: 12 holidays are observed / year. Paid holiday time is awarded at the employee's applicable schedule, i.e., 9/80, 4/10, etc.Retirement: The City does not participate in Social Security.PERS Miscellaneous Formula: "Classic" members: 2.7% @ 55; City contributes 12.03% and employee contributes 8% of salary. "New" members: 2% @ 62; City contributes employee 12.03% and employee contributes 7.75% of salary.Insurance including medical, dental and vision benefits are available under a group plan. Employee pays 1.1% of salary. For 2025, the anticipated SDI/PFL rate is 1.2% of salary.Deferred Compensation Savings Plans (457) are available to employees through a deferred compensation program.Uniforms will be provided by the City to those employees required to wear a uniform.Employee must pay an amount equal to 1.45% of salary toward Medicare.
