Talascend is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a

Restraint System Integration and Testing Engineer position with a leading automotive manufacturer located in Casa Grande, AZ.

SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Restraint System Integration and Testing Engineer. Focuses on designing, developing, and testing electronic systems related to safety and restraint systems in vehicles, such as airbags and seatbelts. This includes managing the entire lifecycle of these systems, from conceptual design to production release and addressing field quality concerns.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the Restraint Sub-system integration and their testing in the vehicle:
  • Manage new development and model year variants
  • Develop and update integration plans
  • Manage testing from planning to report
  • Manage test materials from planning to teardown
  • Support creation and improvement of specifications with DREs
  • Utilize engineering skills to gain knowledge and transfer it to the team
  • Drive Test Report creation, closure, and submission within 24 hours
  • Support general operations in the Test Lab (6S, material ordering, etc.)
  • Lead continued improvement and calibration activities
  • Obtain Lucid forklift certification and operate safely
  • Collaborate with the Restraints and Interiors DREs to learn design and behavior
  • Raise or collect test reports
  • Perform first-level analysis and feed data into the test database
  • Manage root cause analysis with component owners

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Knowledge of airbags and/or interior parts design and engineering, experience with OEM or Tier 1 suppliers
  • Strong problem-solving fundamentals
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences
  • High ethical standards
  • Physical ability to manipulate interior parts

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Test Lab operations
  • Experience in assembly/disassembly of automotive interior parts
  • Experience in crash testing, airbag deployment, seats, trims
  • Knowledge of CAE analysis and restraint system optimization
