The Counselor provides direct clinical services to patients in an outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment setting. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, delivering therapeutic services, and collaborating with medical and behavioral health teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. This role is essential in supporting patient recovery, reducing relapse risk, and connecting clients with additional resources as needed.

Responsibilities/ Job Duties:

  • Provide orientation to new patients regarding program rules, policies, procedures, and patient rights.
  • Conduct intakes, initial assessments, discharge planning, and develop treatment plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational guidelines.
  • Administer biopsychosocial assessments and clinical screening tools (e.g., BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, PHQ-9).
  • Incorporate patients' Strengths, Needs, Abilities, and Preferences (SNAP) into individualized treatment planning.
  • Deliver evidence-based counseling services, including individual and group therapy, using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Evaluate and monitor high-risk patients; collaborate with medical providers and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Coordinate referrals to internal and external resources including recovery support groups, mental health providers, and community agencies.
  • Document services accurately and timely in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings, case conferences, training programs, and community outreach as needed.
  • Observe urine collections and assist with compliance monitoring when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Psychology or a related field
  • Technical/other training in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or related field
  • Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field

Schedule/ Shift: Monday - Friday 6am - 230pm
