PALS Inc. offers professional home care services to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. With locations throughout Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties, we are dedicated to helping individuals achieve their goals and needs. PALS Carpinteria specializes in working with pleasant individuals who are diagnosed with autism.

We are currently seeking candidates to work at our PALS Residential Facility in Carpinteria, assisting residents in the areas where care is necessary. The DSP staff is responsible for supervising residents' activities and ensuring that they follow the Homes' programs regulations and conditions. The DSP team will ensure that all residents receive proper treatment and care while keeping the facility clean, safe, and organized.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn how to identify, chart, and work with a wide range of behavioral challenges. Along with learning and modeling effective communication methods, assisting in managing life challenges, supporting their personal growth through step-by-step planning.

Applicants who are not comfortable working in an atmosphere that serves adults with intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges will not be considered.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Associates degrees in relevant fields are encouraged but not needed.
  • One year of experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities is essential.
  • Must have the capacity to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be knowledgeable with trauma and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Have excellent people skills.
  • Capable of organizing and prioritizing tasks to achieve quality standards and deadlines.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure that residents receive attentive care and support.
  • Responsible in maintaining a safe, clean, friendly, and helpful atmosphere. (Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Kitchen, etc.)
  • Continuously inspect sleeping spaces, outdoor grounds, and communal areas
  • Ensure that residents are participating in activities or actively implementing their plans.
  • Provide sanitary products, towels, bedding, and other essential supplies.
  • Assist residents in developing and using life and social skills to increase their independence, social involvement, and overall enjoyment!
  • Supervise residents and house operations to ensure their safety.
  • Respond to resident behaviors.
  • Utilize transportation to take residents to community activities, errands, and appointments as needed.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning, etc.
  • Secure and provide medications as needed to residents.
  • Complete daily individual information, including reports and progress charts, and promptly report it to the PALS program management team.
  • Participate in PALS staff training, which can be recurrent or scheduled online, upon request.
  • Complete 10 hours of in-service training and 40 hours of RBT course training (uncertified)
  • Candidates may be assigned to job related activities that are not included in the job description.
Required
  • Reliable transportation

  • Valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance
  • Must pass Background Check.
  • Must pass Drug, Physical, and TB Clearance Test

  • Shift 2 - 2pm to 10:30pm
