JOB SUMMARY

ABOUT ASSOCIATE FACULTY:
Mt. San Jacinto Community College District invites applications on an ongoing basis for Associate Faculty positions. Candidates are encouraged to join the Associate Instructor (Environmental Science) pool. Applications meeting the minimum qualifications will be stored electronically for six (6) months following verification. Qualified applications will be referred to deans and department chairs, who will contact candidates for interviews as needs arise.


This position is in the University Professional and Technical Employees CWA Local 9119 AFL-CIO Union –

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide instruction including lecture and/or laboratory classes in the assigned course according to established curriculum and course outlines.
  2. Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance, and participation in a syllabus.
  3. Effectively teach and communicate with students from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Advise students on academic and career matters.
  5. Maintain attendance, scholastic, and student records, submitting them according to guidelines.
  6. Prepare and grade assignments and evaluations as per syllabus.
  7. Maintain currency in the field.
  8. Develop, maintain, and evaluate curriculum.
  9. Develop, maintain, and review student learning outcomes at course and program levels.
  10. Promote student success through effective teaching and learning strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A Master's degree in environmental science, earth science, ecology, biology, geology, or a related discipline.
  2. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Environment: Work is generally performed indoors in classrooms or labs.

Physical: Requires mobility to work in classrooms/labs, travel between sites, and physical ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, lift, carry, push, or pull light to moderate weights, operate equipment, and communicate verbally.

Vision: Sufficient to read screens and documents, with or without correction.

Hearing: Sufficient in the normal range, with or without correction.
