Position Summary:
Carbon2Cobalt is seeking a Technical Designer / Product Developer to support our Apparel Design and Merchandising team. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical design expertise with product development, working alongside experienced merchants and designers. A strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and development is essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and a flexible, collaborative approach.
Responsibilities:
Technical Designer and Product Developer, Women's Line
• Receive sketch and initial design brief from Design. Compose initial tech pack (TP) and submit for internal approvals.
• Revise sketches as needed based on design, fit, or construction updates.
• Manage initial TPs and communicate with vendors; expedite incoming prototypes.
• Process, fit, and document PS1 samples through certified samples.
• Track and follow up on development progress by style to ensure key deadlines (e.g., photoshoots and bulk delivery) are met.
• Initiate and manage the fit, construction, and materials correction process directly with overseas vendors.
• Attend and collaborate in meetings related to product adds, departmental initiatives, and competitive analysis to inform C2C product direction.
Sample and Materials Management:
• Retrieve incoming prototypes from vendors daily and initiate internal processing, including sample measurement and fabric/trim analysis.
• Direct overseas vendor partners in sourcing, acquiring, and approving trims and product dye/wash techniques.
• File and update tagging on samples stored on seasonal garment racks.
• Notify team of samples scheduled for fit and review.
• Co-facilitate end-of-season sample giveaways.
• File and organize swatch library, trims/buttons logs, and other material records.
Admin:
• Update sample status charts with costing, prototype/component status, and factory notes.
• Coordinate and review TOP (Top of Production) samples.
• Take flat photos of each prototype and upload them to the Working Boards folder (PS1 through Photo Sample).
• Initiate and manage the distribution of seasonal carryover specs for assigned categories.
• Review all product design details and costs for assigned categories in catalog copy prior to printing.

Pay Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000
