Director of Finance / Assistant Controller

A publicly traded investment firm is looking for a Director of Finance & Assistant Controller to join its team. This high-impact role oversees SEC reporting, valuation ($5B+ portfolio), FP&A, and technical accounting, with a clear path to VP Finance/Controller within 12-18 months.

Role Overview:

This role will oversee external SEC reporting, internal management reporting, valuation oversight ($5B+ portfolio), FP&A, and technical accounting. It involves leading a team across FP&A, SEC reporting, and valuation functions, collaborating with treasury, tax, investor relations, and general ledger accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead SEC and regulatory reporting (10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, etc.).
• Participate in the Valuation Committee, reviewing valuations for a $5B+ portfolio.
• Oversee financial reporting for Audit Committee & Board meetings.
• Manage FP&A functions, including budgeting, forecasting, business analytics, and valuation models.
• Drive technical accounting research for strategic initiatives.
• Guide teams in SOX compliance and regulatory audits.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably with direct lending or credit strategies.
• Big 4 experience with SEC-registered clients OR experience in a publicly traded financial services institution.
• Expertise in ASC 820, public reporting requirements, and investment company accounting principles.
• Team leadership experience and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
