Senior Development and Construction Accountant

Cityview is currently one of the most active developers on the West Coast. The Development and Construction Accountant position will be a high-performance role and responsible for completing and submitting draws for all development and construction projects and creating job cost reports. The Development and Construction Accountant will spend approximately 70% - 75% of their time working on both ground-up commercial real estate development projects and construction projects at our operating assets. The remainder of their time will be spent managing the Development & Construction Accountant, and supporting Corporate Accounting and the Accounts Payable Specialist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of development and construction-related jobs within Yardi.
  • Compile the monthly invoices for development and construction projects, review, code, track and analyze against contract amount for each vendor.
  • Code and process project invoices in Yardi and follow up with the relevant approvers to confirm approval status.
  • Track and ensure timely payments to contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Upload, enter, and code all executed contracts and change orders in Yardi.
  • Create and maintain a project retention log and project stored materials log and update monthly.
  • Maintain and track all conditional and unconditional lien waivers for development and construction projects and provide a monthly status report/log. Additionally, log and track all general contractor/subcontractor preliminary notices.
  • Ensure all contractors, subcontractors, and consultants maintain their compliance status in Yardi Vendor Café.
  • Work with Cityview's Construction Team to calculate construction management fees.
  • Assist the AP Specialist in managing the AP inbox, including the receipt of invoices, entering, processing, and coding invoices, payment inquiries, vendor inquiries, and check runs.
  • Help ensure all checks are cut and mailed timely according to invoice terms.
  • Coordinate with the corporate accounting team on various ad hoc tasks including but not limited to issuing 1099's at the end of the year, paying property taxes, processing business license renewal payments, and business tax payments.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Yardi, Vendor Shield and Vendor Café, Outlook, Word, Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint, Quickbooks, and Payscan.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all management levels including, but not limited to senior management, lenders, consultants, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of construction budgets and ability to manage costs and change events.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, business, or economics.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable, Job Cost, Billing, Contracts, General Ledger, and Budgeting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‐task and be a team player, self‐starter, organized and punctual.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor and comfort interacting with a multi‐level audience.
  • Experience managing, training, and directing a high functioning team.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Works in an office environment, and frequently sits for long periods.
  • Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Occasionally stands, walks, lifts, stoops, and bends.
  • Periodic travel to project job sites.
