Overview:

One of our clients in the health/wellness space is hiring an Accounting Director for a long-term contract position (close to 1 year), with the potential for extension or conversion.

Type: Hybrid

Duration: 1 year, could extend and possibly convert to a direct hire

Pay: $75 - $90/hr, paid weekly, benefits eligible

Accounting Director Duties:

• Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial reports are accurate and submitted on time.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
• Develop and document accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee royalty accounting and reporting for franchise operations.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct financial risk analysis and variance reporting, offering actionable insights to leadership.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial analysis and advice.
• Lead the transition from Epicor to NetSuite ERP, ensuring a smooth implementation and minimal disruption.
• Design and implement efficient accounting processes and controls for the new ERP system.
• Develop and deliver SOPs and training materials for the accounting team to ensure system proficiency.
• Audit and evaluate existing internal controls, recommending improvements when necessary.
• Manage external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and reporting are in order.
• Support corporate tax reporting and compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Manage and mentor a team, including an Accounting Manager who oversees three direct reports.
• Conduct performance evaluations, foster professional development, and create a supportive, growth-oriented team environment.

Accounting Director Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA and/or MBA is preferred but not required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 5+ years in a managerial role.
• Experience in franchise or multi-location environments is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting principles.
• Proven experience with ERP systems, with a preference for NetSuite.
• Demonstrated ability in policy development, process design, and internal control implementation.
• Experience in financial risk analysis, budgeting, and preparing for audits.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving work environment, handling multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills, capable of presenting financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
