POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall maintenance operation of the facility, performing repairs and maintenance on equipment. Responsibilities include ordering supplies, performing regular maintenance checks, and assigning work duties.

The Maintenance Director follows established safety rules and policies, keeps required records, and cooperates with other employees and department heads.

SPECIFIC EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school degree or equivalent with basic training in electrical, plumbing, heating, and HVAC systems.
  2. Supervisory experience is required.
  3. The employee must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English for the safety and wellbeing of patients and visitors.

  1. Strong organizational skills.
  2. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Agile and in good physical health.
  4. Knowledge of budget preparation process.
  5. Ability to work well with others on various professional levels.
  6. Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, families, visitors, and government agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Supervise the Maintenance Department, including hands-on maintenance and repair work.
  2. Maintain the building in good repair and free of hazards.
  3. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws.
  4. Maintain fire alarm and emergency generator systems; perform weekly tests and keep records.
  5. Participate in budget planning for the Maintenance Department.
  6. Order supplies with Administrator's approval.
  7. Orient and instruct maintenance personnel.
  8. Participate in and plan in-service programs.
  9. Attend Department Head Meetings and required committees.
  10. Recruit, interview, hire, and orient Maintenance Department employees.
  11. Review and evaluate work performance of assigned personnel.
  12. Assign work assignments and duty schedules.
  13. Remain on call for emergencies 24/7.
  14. Ensure customer safety to minimize fire and accidents.
  15. Assist in maintaining and updating Property/Plant Assessment and Facility's Disaster Plan annually.
  16. Ensure the highest quality of service in a caring atmosphere.
  17. Perform other duties as requested.
