Lawrence Berkeley National Labs ( ) Facilities Division has an opening for a Receiver to join the team.

Working under limited direction of the Receiving Unit Lead, independently perform material handling duties at Building 69 Central Receiving. The work includes inspection, acceptance, bar coding, marking, documenting and processing of material being delivered to the Laboratory's Central Receiving unit. Interacts daily with internal and external customers (vendors, freight forwarders, and LBNL Procurement and Property Management personnel). Processes a wide range of commodities ranging from office supplies to research equipment, purchased in PeopleSoft by the LBNL Procurement group. Processes all material(s) associated with Ebuy Systems.

You must possess a thorough understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and must demonstrate specific experience of Material Handling in a Receiving Unit environment. You must maintain regular and respected communications/interactions with team members and clients. Must possess computer skills necessary to create, sort and manage e-mail. Utilize computer software to create electronic templates, and folders.

**What You Will Do:**

* Receipt Processing (40%) - Utilizing the PeopleSoft receiving programs, enters receipt information into the Receiving database. Generates barcodes utilizing the iBox package tracking program. For sensitive and/or high volume items (> $10k), insure proper property controls by assigning and affixing property numbers onto received items. Enters data into the AMS database required Property Information (vendor, serial number, requester, location, etc.). For perishable items, ensure that packages are properly refrigerated and assigned for same day delivery. For hazardous shipments, ensure that materials are properly manifested and segregated per DOT49CFR regulations. Stages material for delivery by LBNL Transportation Unit.

* Dock Assistance (30%) - Off loads and inspects incoming shipments to ensure that material is addressed properly and all counts match the driver's manifest. If freight is damaged or mishandled, accurately annotate the Stages material on conveyor or carts according to size and/or urgency, with premium shipments given the highest priority.

* System Contract Receipt (20%)- Performs receipt of material ordered on B2B and Ebuy System Contracts. Scans all material from the vendor truck onto Transportation carts utilizing the iBox receipt function.

* Miscellaneous (10%) - Processes notification receipts for material that is delivered directly to the requester. Provides receipt status to requesters. Assist in resolving vendor and Procurement order receipt problems. Maintains files associated with material processed. Under the guidance of the Mailroom Lead, may sort, deliver, and/or handle mail. Under the guidance of the Shipping Lead, may prepare and arrange for package shipping.

**What is Required:**

* 2+ years experience performing a variety of material handling duties utilizing industry-standard receiving software systems in a Receiving Unit environment.

* Advanced level of computer knowledge using software in a Receiving Unit environment and data entry experience using PC hardware. Experience with e-mail systems, template creation and electronic filing . Familiarity with Oracle, PeopleSoft, and or other similar receiving computer software is preferred. Familiarity with barcode technology is preferred.

* Minimum 2 years experience (Journeyman level experience) in operating a wide range of motorized and non motorized material handling equipment, including high-capacity forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dollies. Ability to obtain LBNL forklift certification within the six-month probationary review period. Ability to maintain LBNL forklift certification.

* Comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation hazardous material handling regulations.

* Demonstrated ability to work independently and with very little direction and set priorities for incoming work.

* Good interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to function in a professional customer service oriented manner.

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum unassisted; ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds for 10 to 15 feet. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and has manual dexterity in both hands.

* Substantial organizational skills with an ability to work accurately with high attention to detail.

* Possess a valid California drivers license.

* Possess advanced product knowledge of all materials associated with the research industry.

**Desired Qualifications:**

* Knowledgeable in MS Word, MS Excel preferred.

* This is a full-time career appointment, non-exempt (hourly paid) from overtime pay.

* This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.

* Salary will be predetermined based on collective bargaining agreement step rates.
