Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days **Job Summary:** Under the direct supervision of the Department Manager, the Transportation Specialist delivers and picks up medications at patient's homes, nursing agencies, and other locations as needed. Completes required documentation. Schedules deliveries with patients. Reviews inventory in patient's home. Orders and maintains inventory in supply room. Responsible for tracking and scheduling maintenance and repairs of courier vehicle. **Essential Functions:**

* Deliver medications, supplies, and equipment to patients home or other locations.

* Review Shipping List to ensure accuracy and obtain patient (or designee) signature.

* Complete other required documentation, including Narcotic delivery record, Suitability form, and others as requested.

* Schedule deliveries with patients and/or caregivers to meet required timelines for the planned therapy and Home Health visits.

* Report any problems or concerns noted in the patients home to the Pharmacist or RN.

* Maintain stock supplies in the store room.

* Track and schedule routine courier vehicle maintenance and repairs.

* Operate the courier vehicle in a safe and considerate manner at all times.

* QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

+ Resource Utilization: Ensures that appropriate supplies and equipment are available, accounted for, and used in a cost-effective manner and assures timely and cost-effective delivery.

+ Safety: Provide a clean, comfortable environment for customers and others by taking appropriate safety precautions.

+ Productivity: Works with Supervisor to establish schedules and duties. Organizes, prioritizes and completes activities and assignments in an efficient manner.

+ Teamwork: Demonstrates initiative in assisting others and performing other duties based on skill level and training. Actively participates in new employee orientation as appropriate.

+ Quality Improvement Program: Participates in department problem solving, suggests improvements, and facilitates change.

**Skills:**

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to effectively communicate with other employees, physicians, patients and their families.

* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

* Ability to be dependable and flexible with work schedule, assignments and/or locations as needed. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

**Minimum Position Requirements:**

**Licenses/Certifications:**

* Valid California Drivers License (CDL).

* Proof of auto insurance.

* A DMV summary must be submitted before the employee can start work. Evidence of sustained driving problems will result in the offer of employment being withdrawn. If the CDL is revoked post hire, the employee will be reassigned or released from duty. See Authorization to Drive Hospital Vehicles policy located in the Hospital Wide Policy Manual for further information.
