**SUMMARY**

The high energy JOANNs Custom Shop Team Member is responsible for inspiring our customers by offering exceptional service in the JOANNs Custom Shop location in accordance with the core competencies, guidelines, and policies set forth by the company. This Team Member is accountable for creating our customers desires in regards to home accent pieces and clothing, along with providing knowledge in all areas of sewing to best assist customers in the purchase of items needed to create their project.

**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

**BRAND AMBASSADOR**

* Greets every JOANN customer and uses the F.A.S.T. service model to meet the customer's needs.

* Asks open-ended questions to learn about customers' project needs and escorts them to the desired product's location.

* Engages in friendly conversation with customers about their projects while serving them at the cutting counter, cash register, and sales floor.

* Ensures friendly and knowledgeable service is provided to every customer.

* Consistently maintains visibility in the JOANNs Custom Shop area to assist customers and Team Members.

* Monitors feedback on quality of experience, products and services and shares information with store leadership.

* Effectively suggests services of the JOANNs Custom Shop to encourage additional sales.

* Exemplifies strong problem-solving skills, and can manage multiple projects, customers and events at one time.

* Can process sales transactions by using proper cash handling procedures.

* Promotes and updates customer mailing list.

**OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE**

* Through strong customer service skills, proactively drives sales and inspiration through the sales or creation of projects by one of our JOANNs Custom Shop experts.

* Strongly executes the FAST service method on the sales floor, providing knowledge on all products and services both on the sales floor and in the JOANNs Custom Shop area, and effectively and efficiently using time allotted for Team Members to make customers ideas come to life. In addition to ensuring safety guidelines are followed by all participants, maintains an organized, neat and well stocked and presentable department.

* Processes all paperwork and other company documents in a timely and accurate manner.

**INSPIRATIONAL LEADER**

* Supports teamwork and collaboration with leadership and Team Members.

* Displays friendly approach with customers and coworkers, and has strong communication skills.

* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

* Performs duties with integrity and professionalism and abides by Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

* Works scheduled hours and follows meal and break requirement.

* Ensures all time worked is recorded and payroll records are accurate.

* Arrives to work on time, in dress code, and ready to perform job responsibilities.

* Completes all tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

* Follows all other Company policies and procedures.

**SKILLS / COMPETENCIES**

* Sales experience

* Strong knowledge of POS system and Windows-based computer applications

* Retail operations familiarity

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

* Strong organization skills

* Quality orientation and high attention to detail

* Ability to work with vendors, customers and employees

* Ability to maintain a safe work environment

* Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution

* Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**

* Push/pull merchandise with appropriate equipment (carts, tubs, etc) to and from backroom and sales floor

* Individually lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance from another Team Member on occasion

* Lift, place, and arrange items on shelves and rack

* Bend down and reach above head

* Climb and descend ladder

* Continuously walk around all areas of the store through shift

* Read written instructions, reports, and other information on paper and computer screens

* Input data on computer keyboard and handheld units

* May use 2-way headsets (hear incoming messages and provide verb response)

**EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE**

* Education Minimum: High School or GED

* Education Preferred: Post-secondary education; Associates Degree

* Experience Minimum: 5 years minimum experience in the sewing industry

* Experience Preferred: 10 years of sewing industry experience

**EXPECTED AVAILABILITY**

* Part-time status requires availability that meets the needs of the store.

* Part-time Team Members are generally scheduled to work less than an average of 30 hours per week in a measurement period, as defined by JOANN and are not guaranteed any particular number of hours per week.

* Open availability is defined as the ability to work any and all hours required without restrictions as to the time of day or day of week, including, but not limited to, days, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays.

* Hours are scheduled according to needs of the store and the Team Members availability.

* Relocation may be required for career progression.
